Deformation Capacity of RC Beam-Column Joints Strengthened with Ferrocement

چکیده
Beam-column joints constructed in the pre-seismic building code do not provide transverse reinforcement and good detailing within region. These cause occurrence of brittle shear failure, which is one factors affecting number reinforced concrete (RC) moment resistance structures collapsing during an earthquake. Therefore, this study a beam-column joint with non-seismic was designed strengthened by ferrocement. Four layers wire mesh diameter 1 mm size 25.4 were installed on both sides cement mortar cast it. As comparison, ductile also following current code, considers seismic effects. The test results applying reversed cyclic loading at beam tip showed that strengthening using ferrocement prevents crack propagation, increasing deformation capacity, ductility, stiffness, energy dissipation column are higher than those code. However, does improve load carrying capacity significantly.

Fragility Functions for Older Rc Beam-column Joints
A critical step in performance-based seismic design is the prediction and definition of earthquake performance using terms that are meaningful to building owners. Recently, economic impact, defined as the cost of repairing earthquake damage and the building downtime required to complete the repair work, has been adopted as a meaningful measure of building performance. To enable earthquake engin...
متن کاملAN OPTIMIZATION PROCEDURE FOR CONCRETE BEAM-COLUMN JOINTS STRENGTHENED WITH FRP
This paper illustrates an optimization procedure of concrete beam-column joints subjected to shear that are strengthened with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP). For this aim, five different values have been considered for length, width and thickness of the FRP sheets which created 125 different models to strengthen of concrete beam-column joints. However, by using response surface methodology (RSM...
متن کاملFE Modelling of the Seismic Behavior of Wide Beam-Column Joints Strengthened with CFRP Systems
A large share of reinforced concrete (RC) framed buildings is provided with wide beams being a type of beam allowing greater freedom in the architectural arrangement of interiors, beyond further advantage due to fewer formworks needed during the construction. Nevertheless, little attention has been devoted to the seismic vulnerability of this kind of framed RC buildings as well as to the study ...

متن کاملModified Bouc-Wen model for hysteresis behavior of RC beam-column joints with limited transverse reinforcement
An analytical approach based on modified Bouc-Wen-Baber-Noori model has been proposed in this paper for predicting the hysteresis behavior of reinforced concrete beamcolumn joints with limited transverse reinforcement. The analytical model presented in this research is able to capture the characteristics of non-seismic detailed beam-column joints such as stiffness and strength degradation and p...
